I’ve been quiet on here lately and I apologize for the lack of posts. We’re schooling through the summer (albeit with a lesser workload); and we’re still settling into our new home and undergoing some more renovations. And yes, I still have boxes on my bedroom floor waiting to be unpacked. On a plus side- the girls’ awesome new custom TRIPLE bunk bed is finally complete (
post and pictures on THAT badboy in the near future! Here’s the photos!) and the girls are finally sleeping nestled in their beds instead of on the pull-out in the living room.
In the midst of all this moving chaos I was sent a CD to review and during the chaos of our move it rather fortuitously got buried and forgotten. I say “fortuitously” because it ended up popping back up at a serendipitous time. The “opening” of our new family pool.
Here’s a picture from just a few days ago.
And then- magically- the pool was open for business!
And even though it’s already the end of July in Florida- for us- it feels like summer has just begun.
Let the good times
With all this new splashy fun we’re having it’s only appropriate to have a summer soundtrack to accompany us. Now you know why I said this review copy was so fortuitously forgotten and then found: Deep Sea Diver by Recess Monkey is the perfect catchy summer sound to fill your water-filled summer days.
“Deep Sea Diver is a kid-focused undersea odyssey with the same high energy, pitch perfect understanding of what gets kids excited that has made Recess Monkey kindie rock royalty.”
Recess Monkey is a children’s music band composed of a trio of teachers that make upbeat and engaging music for both kids and parents alike.
And like it we did. My girls and I made up games and silly dance moves to act out in the pool to different songs on the CD. In “Up Periscope” every time they sang the word ‘down’ we would dunk underwater. For the song “Fish Sticks” we would pose like a fish stick every time the chorus chanted the words. And for the record- our fish stick poses resembled anything but fish sticks and instead ended up into a race to see who could make the others laugh the most with our weird body and facial contortions.
But perhaps the best review of this CD came from my 3 year old who, after singing along and leafing through the CD jacket explained, “I like these guys. They’re so silly!”
And there you have it: from one silly trio to another. This CD rocks.
