Fancy a Spot of Tea?

I’ve been wanting to purchase my girls a functioning tea set for awhile.  This past Christmas I finally took the time to research an ungodly number of sets with the intention of finding one that would appeal equally to my 2, 4, and 6 year old (and me too).

After spending a ridiculously long time sifting through countless reviews, I finally settled upon a set from the folks at Green Toys.  Eco-friendly, BPA free, FDA approved, dishwasher safe, and made in the USA from recycled milk jugs.

Oh, and did I mention the pretty pastel colors?

Pretty, pretty colors.

Initially, I wasn’t 100% certain about my purchase because Amazon shows quite a few lower-rated reviews where folks complain that the teapot leaks, resulting in a mess while trying to pour.  It was almost enough to scare me away, but for every less-than-stellar review there was one saying that when they contacted the folks at Green Toys about their faulty teapot a replacement was sent.  I figured, if worse came to worse, I would just contact the company.

The moment I opened the package I was impressed with the durability of the set.  Yes sirreethis set is built to last!  I feel assured that even my rough-and-tumble 2 year old won’t be able to put a dent in this thing.  And I’m glad to say there was no leaks in any of the pieces.  The only spills were the ones made by an overzealous server.  (Which, ironically enough, was me!)

I’m sure that my grandmother is happily looking down on us and is pleased with my attempt to instill an early love of tea in my girls.  I make a point to belt out “ ♪ ♫ Tea for two, and two for tea ♪ ♫” with as much enthusiasm as Gram used to do with me.

Care for a cuppa?

This tea set has quickly become a household favorite- SO much of a favorite, in fact, that it inspired me to write out this impromptu review.

Kid-tested;  Mom-tested;  Approved!

My girls were given that same exact tea set at ages 6 mos & 20 mos – it is still a favorite and we have become huge fans of Green Toys because of it. We now own the boat & and tool set and are using the Green Eats dishes too. They are first place I look when I need a gift. I’m so glad you and your girls are enjoying it. The colors are pretty darn cute and I can’t believe it’s made out of recycled milk jugs.

How sweet! I saw that one on amazon when I was looking for one for my little girl a month or so ago. I didn’t settle on one, so I’m happy to see you like this one! I’ll remember it when I think about it again for her birthday =)

Somehow tea parties dissolved around here without me realizing it ): I’m glad that you are cherishing them and also not inadvertently poisoning anyone (:
